Our mission is to equip, empower, encourage, and connect the next generation of spiritual leaders.
Jesus wants to cleanse you of sin, fill you with His Holy Spirit, and give you a life of hope. Scripture promises: “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9).
If you feel a tug toward true freedom, make that choice today. Cry out to Him in prayer, step into your eternal destiny, and become a new creation. Today is the day of salvation—and we are ready to help you take your next step.

You wish you could hear from God personally, but there’s just too much noise in your life.

It doesn’t take long to realize that our generation has a serious problem with slowing down. Social media has conditioned us to have the attention span of a goldendoodle. From microwave meals to smartphone notifications, technology has swept us by a storm, leaving very little room for purposeful pauses.

However, this isn't a post about the "evils" of tech. Rather, it’s an invitation to stop and consider a far more life-giving way to spend your most precious resource: your time.

The Perfect Instruction Manual

Did you know that every answer to life’s biggest questions is addressed in the Bible? God intentionally gave us Scripture to equip us. You don't have to wonder, guess, or stumble through life—you can know His heart today.

My husband, Sean, and I used to serve in the military, where we had a detailed instruction manual for just about everything we did, both on and off duty. When we became parents, the running joke was, "Too bad there's no instruction manual for raising kids!"

It didn't take long for God to shift our perspective. We realized, "Actually, there is a wonderful, perfect instruction manual for parenting—and all of life. It's called the Bible."

Though, it’s so much more than that.

At Discipleship Company, we love the Bible and here's why: we believe it is a living, active, powerful, and complete collection of truth, given to us by God.  He gave us the Bible to equip us for life, to empower us with the only words that have the power to penetrate the deepest parts of us, and to enable us to live free from condemnation, sin, and confusion.

You Can't Hear Someone You Aren't Listening To

So, how does all of this relate to hearing from God?

It’s simple: If we want to hear from anyone, we have to engage with them directly.

You can’t hear someone if there is too much background noise. You can’t understand someone if you don't take the time to learn about them. And the absolute best way to learn about God is by reading His words.

For those who are married, think of it this way: Can you imagine having a healthy relationship with your spouse by talking to everyone else about them to get to know them, instead of just spending actual time with them?

That doesn't make much sense, does it? Yet that is exactly how many of us treat God.

What Does God Actually Want From You?

When Jesus was asked what matters most, He kept it remarkably simple:

"Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself."

Matthew 22:37-39 (CSB)

God doesn't leave us guessing about what He requires. As the Prophet Micah wrote:

"Mankind, He has told each of you what is good and what it is the LORD requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God."

Micah 6:8 (CSB)

If you consider yourself a Christian, do you know what God has specifically asked you to do on this earth before you meet Him in eternity?

Here is the truth, friends: If we want to hear from God, we have to be intentional.

It isn't enough to sit through a Sunday service once a week. It isn't enough to seek Him purely through a devotional app, a leadership podcast, a Christian book, or your favorite preacher. We have to spend time reading the Bible ourselves, sitting in His presence, and wrestling with the deepest parts of our hearts that we usually try to hide.

Jesus welcomes all of you. He already knows your deepest secrets, and He still considered you worthy of dying for. Don't overthink it. God loves you and wants what is best for you—you just have to get to know Him enough to believe that for yourself.

Your Practical Action Steps

Our encouragement to you today is simple: Put the technology down and pick up a physical Bible.

A man happily put his smartphone aside to study open Bible and enjoy coffee without distractions.

If you aren't sure where to start, follow this gentle roadmap to build a daily rhythm:

Step 1: Start with the Psalms: Anchor your mind in His peace.

Open to Psalm 23 and Psalm 91. Read them slowly. Let the reality of His protection, comfort, and presence settle over your mind before the world gets a hold of your day.

Step 2: Move to the Gospel of John: See how Jesus lives and loves.

Dive into the Gospel of John to see how Jesus spoke, discipled others, and walked in complete intimacy with the Father.

Step 3: Let the Holy Spirit Lead: Follow His promptings.

Continue reading daily to fill your soul with truth. Let your time in Scripture become an organic reflex rather than a duty on your to-do list.
