Who is Jesus to you?

Have you ever stopped to really consider that question? Maybe being asked who Jesus is leaves you feeling a little stunned, or maybe a dozen quick, rehearsed answers pop into your head. Either way, take a moment right now to pause and give it an honest reflection.

Jesus asked this exact question of His disciples over 2,000 years ago, and it is the very same question that confronts each of us today:

"When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, 'Who do people say that the Son of Man is?' 'Well,' they replied, 'some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.' Then he asked them, 'But who do you say I am?'"— Matthew 16:13-15 (NLT)

If you consider yourself a Christian, but deep down you feel like something vital is missing in your life, God might be trying to get your attention. Jesus often spoke in parables, and He asked intentional, heart-probing questions to move people out of passive routines. 3 Heart-Check Questions for Your Walk with God

Question 1: Purpose & Mission.

Do I know my specific, God-assigned purpose, and am I actively living out that mission every single day?

Question 2: Authority & Worldview.

Does the Word of God dictate my everyday decisions, my thoughts, my emotional responses, and my worldview?

Question 3: Intimacy & Dependence.

Do I have a personal, close-knit relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit—one where I depend on Him for everything with child-like faith?

If your answer to any of these three questions is "no"—or if you lack confidence in your answers—take heart. It isn't a call to guilt or condemnation; it is simply a signal that it’s time to dig deeper with God.

What Do Your Patterns Reveal?

Questions are powerful tools because they break us out of our default thinking. Patterns reveal the underlying conditions of our lives, and our lives ultimately reflect what is stored in our hearts.

How often do you stop to examine what you are thinking about, or evaluate the state of your most important relationships?

If an outside observer were to watch your daily life, your habits, and your conversations, what would they conclude about your priorities? In other words, what would they say is most important to you?

Scripture reminds us that our outward actions will always point back to our inward condition:

"As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person."— Proverbs 27:19 (NLT)

"Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."— Luke 12:34 (NLT)

Returning to the Anchor

The Bible serves as our ultimate resource because it has the divine power to correct our course when we drift. Everything God has given us in Scripture is designed for our benefit. Even the toughest, most confronting verses are grounded in His profound love for us—if we allow the Holy Spirit to open our hearts and minds to receive them.

Whatever is currently holding you back from a truly meaningful, satisfying life usually comes down to where you are placing your focus.
