Who is Jesus to you?

Read the scriptures above. The Bible makes it clear that no one can say “Jesus is LORD” if they do not have the Holy Spirit.

Without the Holy Spirit, we are not truly walking in the fullness of freedom that Jesus died and resurrected for us to have.

We may be walking through life, believing we are a “good person” or even a “Christian,” but without the Holy Spirit, and giving lordship to Jesus over our lives, we are selling ourselves short. In fact, we are selling ourselves back into the slavery of sin that Jesus came to rescue us from.

Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9 tells us that it is by declaring with our mouth “Jesus is LORD” and believing in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, that we receive the free gift of salvation and are made right with God.

It goes on to say, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.””

So here is the big question: “who do YOU say that I am?”

Whether you’ve stepped foot into a church or read a page in the Bible, the truth of your design, your thought patterns, and your core beliefs are ALL led by 1 of 2 things — GOOD or EVIL.

We can CHOOSE to allow the worldly standards (the things that oppose God) to dictate our thought patterns and ultimately eternal purpose, OR we can choose the path that resonates with the purest form of why we were brought into existence in the first place.

We do this by aligning our minds with what the Bible says. These scriptures are God’s instructions for life, written for OUR BENEFIT.

We put down the ways of the flesh: lust, jealousy, malice, striving, hatred, rage, selfish desires… and replace it with the ways of God: peace, joy, abundance of life, security, love, selflessness, faithfulness, gratitude, goodness, purpose…

This can only be done by aligning with God’s Word (the Bible) and opening the door of our life to Jesus as LORD.

Do you wish you knew your purpose? I’m not talking about the career, the degree, the spouse, the kids, the house, or the car. Your REAL PURPOSE. The one that lights you up each day and keeps you moving, even when things get a little difficult. The one that makes it all worth living.

Do you know that the only way to know is through understanding your true identity?

Let me paint a picture for you.

Let’s say that you have a goal of becoming a doctor. You want to help people and desire to make a good living to support yourself and your family. First question is — do you know anything about becoming a doctor? You may know some basics like, to become a doctor, requires going to medical school, passing certain exams to be board certified, and residency. But, knowing these basics is only the beginning of that process. What about getting in to medical school? Do you need recommendations, good grades, a resume? What type of doctor do you hope to be? Do you have to know that early in the process, or do you have time to figure it out? How much will it cost to become a doctor and how will you pay for it?

So many things to consider, and yet…the path to becoming a doctor is actually really specific, depending on the specialty. For example, if you want to become a veterinary doctor versus a dermatologist, requires completely different approaches and paths.

So, what does this have to do with your purpose or Psalm 37 on this post?

Well, whether you want to become a doctor, a teacher, a mom, a dad, or the president, it all requires knowing what path to take and how to get there.

Knowing what you were created to be and how to live that out, requires that you know what path to take and how to get there too.

Psalm 37 is just a glimpse into what God gave us to help us achieve our purpose and to take the right path.

It doesn’t require a degree. It DOES require faith.

It doesn’t require knowledge. It DOES require understanding Who your Creator is.

It doesn’t require a set of “to-do’s.” It DOES require pursuing a wholehearted relationship with Jesus.

Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Psalm 37:4.

The most important thing you can do is TRUST JESUS and SURRENDER TO HIS WAY. He created you, He knows you, He loves you, His thoughts about you outnumber the grains of sand on all the earth, He has a plan for you, He wants to help you, He is for you, He is NOT against you, His promises are true and can be trusted, and He will never let you fail!

We found ourselves ministering to random people during our travels and grocery trips. God began to train us “in the field” and eventually connected us with others who wanted to be discipled and grow too.
